Benjamin C. Weeks, age 69, of Faribault, MN, passed away July 30, 2014, at the District
One Hospital in Faribault.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. at the Parker
Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory in Faribault. Interment will be at the Oak Lawn Cemetery
in Northfield, MN.
Benjamin Charles was born on August 5, 1944, in Wadena, MN to Charles and Isabelle
“Norma” (Noland) Weeks. He grew up on his family’s farm in rural Park Rapids. He
graduated from Park Rapids High School in 1962 and entered the U.S. Navy where he
was educated as an electrician’s mate. During his military service he was married to
Sandra Brattin in 1966. He served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged after five
years. He finished his college education at Bemidji State in Industrial Arts. He was an
industrial arts teacher at Northfield Junior High School for seven years, then at the
Faribault Regional Center for many years until his retirement when the Center closed.
Benjamin and Sandy raised two children, Matthew and Sophia, and were later divorced.
He loved woodcarving and was a collector of limited edition art prints. He often enjoyed
summer trips up north and fishing. Benjamin was also a Junior Achievement Coordinator
for several years and a life member with the Northfield Veterans of Foreign Wars and was
a Past Commander.
He is survived by his children, Matthew (Mandy) Weeks of Faribault, and Sophia Keilen of
Brooklyn Center, MN; five grandchildren, Jacob and Tyler, and Landon, Sane’jae, and
Sa’rya; his former wife, Sandra Weeks of Faribault; sister, Linda Engle of Calumet, MN;
and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George Weeks; and sister, Beverly
Bittman.
