Myron Leonard Robbins

December 19, 1944 ~ February 27, 2017

Myron L. Robbins, age 72, a longtime Park Rapids, MN area resident, formerly of Spokane, WA and Warrensburg, MO, peacefully passed into eternity on Monday morning, February 27, 2017 at his home in Park Rapids with his loving wife at his side.

Myron was born on December 19, 1944 in Sacramento, CA to Albert and Helene (Vangen) Robbins.  As a small boy, he moved with his family who returned back to their former home of Park Rapids, MN.  He attended country school near his parent’s farm north of Park Rapids and then went on to attend high school in Park Rapids, graduating with the Class of 1962.  As a young man, Myron worked for his Uncle Roy’s tree trimming service for a number of years.  In the early 1970’s, he traveled to the state of Virginia where he worked with his brother at a concrete plant where they were involved in the large project of helping construct the Pentagon.  In the mid-1970’s, he moved to Spokane, WA where he did maintenance work for the famous Davenport Hotel.  After a number of years he ventured down to Missouri where he worked as a janitor for the Warrensburg Public School System.  In the early 1980’s, Myron returned to Spokane where he gained employment working at the Southcrest Nursing home.  During this time, he and his sister, Sheryl purchased a gold mine in the Cataldo Mission, Idaho area and prospected for several years.  In 1991, Myron returned to Park Rapids where he met and fell in love with a young woman named Marie Carter. He gained employment as a janitor at the American Legion Club and also worked for Orv Motley, later he worked for the Nandor of the North Nursery.  On June 25, 1999, Myron’s life was fulfilled in his marriage to Marie Carter in an outdoor ceremony at the home of his Uncle Joe Robbins.  Myron worked at the Eagle Bay Nursery southeast of Park Rapids until his retirement.  Myron enjoyed carving wood and especially enjoyed working with Diamond Willow.  He took pride in caring for his home and yard.  He enjoyed planting and nurturing beautiful flowers into colorful splendor for all to see and enjoy.  Myron along with son, Tony and brother, Mark built a stone fire pit in his backyard and looked forward to having family and friends over to dine and visit around a roaring fire. 

Myron will be lovingly remembered by his wife, soulmate and forever partner, Marie; his seven children: Joseph, William, Kimberly, Samantha, Crystal, Anthony and Holly Sue; he was also blessed with a double armful of grandchildren; his four sisters: Cheryl Kloepfel of Park Rapids; Sandra Heard of Spokane, WA, Sheila Newton-Robbins of Spokane and Stacey (Steve) Key of Spokane; three brothers: Martin (Bonnie) Robbins of Chatteroy, WA; Michael Robbins of Spokane and Mark Robbins of Park Rapids; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Maynard; and a sister, Susan who died tragically in an accident at age five.
